Modern Kumiko Lamp

When modern design meets traditional craft.

Khiri Lamp my new project with a fresh new design in which I wanted to combine the traditional style of Kumiko with a modern touch and a new design to fit in all styles of houses (Scandinavian, Minimalistic, Modern, Contemporary, etc.) but also to fit perfectly with traditional houses or dojos.

 For this project I'd used high quality veneer Celebes Ebony 

 At the end of the Meiji period, Japan sent cherry tree seedlings to the United States as a symbol of the two countries’ friendship. Cherry trees, which are beautiful both as they bloom and as the blossoms fall, are known throughout the world as the flower that symbolizes Japan.
As shown by the children’s song “Sakura,” the Japanese people have lived their lives with a special sentiment towards cherry blossoms for a long time.
This feeling has been incorporated into kumiko since long ago. 

This lamp is 55 cm (21.654 inches) height and 31 by 31cm (12.598 inches) wide and can be used like a floor or table lamp and it comes with 2 metres of textile cable.
